Prevention of parent to child Transmission (PPTCT) Programme
Our NGO Saiprem gramin vikas sanstha, Yavatmal implemented
PPTCT Programme through Maharashtra State Aids Control Society (MSACS) in Maharashtra State. Our NGO implements this program in Yavatmal District, At 18 Primary health center namely Yavatmal, Ner, Pusad, Wani, Maregaon, Karanji, Digras, Kalamb, Darwha, Ralegaon, Jamni, Loni, Ghatanji, Babhulgaon, Umarkhed, Sawana. Two peer educators have been appointed at each PHC mention above.
The main aim is to prevent new born child to get affected from HIV-Aids. For this pregnant mothers are convinced to go through the test for HIV/Aids. Percentage of infection can be decreased up to 70% if suitable timely treatment and cautious steps are taken. Awareness about this issues is spread in the village falling under above 18 PHC. Co-ordinator & Counselor plants for all these activities. Peer educators can sort out the problems faced by them through proper guidance and regarded information.
Facilities & Services Provided under PPTCT Program : In this Programme pregnant women are counseled in outer patient department (OPD) about pre HIV/AIDS Test. In this, information about causes of infection case to be taken to prevent from getting infected, “Nevirapin” drug which prevent infection in child.
After seeking permission from pregnant women, she is then tested for HIV-Aids and test regarding Hemoglobin, blood group and urine are also carried out. In posttest counseling women are handed over their reports and if found infected with HIV-Aids. they are told about what precautions to be taken in future. Infected women are given moral support and scientific instruction about this disease. After infected women permission her husband and other family member are counseled and their HIV-AIDS test are also carried out.
After the birth of the child proper and desired medical treatments is provided.
- Pre-natal care to be provider under this program.
- Willingly counseling and test for HIV-AIDS.
- Advises about nutrition and nutritive food.
- Check up of venereal diseases (diseases communicated by sexual intercourse )
All the above information has been provided to concerned pregnant women with the help of our NGO. The main objective of our NGO is to put on check on ever increasing HIV-AIDS mentance.
Since the beginning of this project we are successful in preventing HIV Transmission from parents to child.
